Farm
Battle Road Farms employs integrated mixed-husbandry that does not precisely mimic colonial farming, but broadly replicates the look of the 18th century farmscape. The central elements of this agricultural approach are grass/clover hay in rotation with vegetables. Livestock will be beef cattle, sheep, pigs, and poultry, including many heritage breeds. This approach preserves the land in historically and environmentally appropriate ways, bringing it to life for the benefit of our community and the thousands of people who visit the Park each year.
A farm manager, apprentice farmers, youth corps groups, volunteers, and visiting program participants all contribute to running the farm. Also offered is an incubated farm program providing selected young farmers immersive stints running niche independent enterprises that compliment the core farm.
